Bought this 91 Corvette as a non runner (blown motor), fixed it, turned out to be 383, Accell 1000, ported heads, headers etc, took the car out, jumping out of 4th gear, bought new ZF trans, now the A/C compressor won't engage, no power getting to the clutch, I have looked behind the dask, and it is clear that it has all been out and not put back too well, I have run the diagnostic with the blower switches, no faults showing and the fuses are o.k. does anyone have any ideas or even better a wiring diagram.
If you are low on freon the clutch will never try and engage. I just went through this and here is the thread I started, it might help you if you have the same problem.
Thanks for your input, there are two switches next to each other, I jumper the one with spade connectors nearest the compressor, still no clutch, I took the car for re-gassing, and they told me it was full & the problem is elswhere!!! if the power runs through A relay to the clutch it may be faulty, but there are lots of relays behind the dash, like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Am having a similiar problem with my 92, after having the mechanic check everything he could he seems to think I need to have the ECM reprogrammed.Mine had obviously been reprogrammed and he says there is no signal from computer to compressor.I have yet to get it to the dealer but will keep you posted as to results.Perhaps your problem is caused by same issue.
I have been poking around under the dash & centre console, and under the centre console by the cigar lighter there is a loose square plug with 4 wires - blue, blue/white, brown, black/pink, also a plug with 2 wires - blue, black/red in the footwell below the fusebox. as the wire to the compressor clutch is blue, this could have something to do with my problem, but I have checked and cannot see anything that they should be coupled to, do we know what is missing. I am in South Africa and Corvette specialist are like hens teeth!!!
Here is a schematic for a 93... Not sure if your's would be the same. (I think it is).... I would check to see if you have +12 volts at 87, if you do then jumper 87 to 30 and see if the compresser starts. If it does then the relay may be faulty (further check needed), if it doesn't then it's the clutch (or the wiring to it). See what happens, and write back for more info... (PS this shouldn't be that hard, even if it is the ECM you can easily Jerry rid someone to get that Cold air in the African heat...)

Thank for the input and diagram, I have jumped the compressor clutch and all is working and cooling well, do you know where the clutch relay is located, I need to check that out.

You need to explain. You say you jumped the compressor clutch, what do you mean by this? If you jumpered it as discribed above, then you already know where the relay is... You have me confused...
The relay is located on the passenger side wheel well (but you might already know that).

Sorry, I mean I un-plugged the compressor on the engine and applied power direct to the unit, it then works, so I now know that the clutch is working and that it blows cold.
