Default running temps?

Hi all I did a search on running hot and a few others I found many different opinions?
I have a 96 CE LT1 with 39,000 miles on the highway mid to high 90s outside temps the car runs at 202 203 area.
In traffic or standing still it runs about 225 to 238 is this normal or high?
Also what is the factory setting for the primary and secondary fans to come on?
thanks
Clay

thats a wee bit high, may want to get in there and clean the condenser and in between it and the radiator.

Mine usually runs at 192 when cruising, 200 with AC on, and climbs to 215-220 sitting.

also check to make sure both fans are operational.

260* is when you need to get worried and shut it down.

The temps are close to the same as my LT-1 202 cruising runs up to 230 before fans kick on .This is normal

To answer your edit. I'm 85% sure the primary fan comes on at 230, and secondary at 245.

Could be off by a bit tho.

When I first got my 96 LT1 I had the same concerns, and I thought mine was overheating, the range you quote is a little high but not too far off. My fan comes on at about 228 with no A/C and gets there quickly in traffic seems like they are always running with A/C on. I do use the dash to see the numbers for degrees verses the guage when it seems to get near the 228 just to be sure. Make sure there is no crap stuck up under the nose between the radiators and just keep an eye on it. more than likely you are fine. A good GM dealer can check the settings if you don't know anyone else who can, but before you go that route, make sure they have a vette mechanic.

Yeah, but, it doesn't have to be thata way.

Mine ran less than 190 moving and sitting (traffic) never hit more than 210.
