Last year at an Auto Show, I sat in a new BMW M5 and noticed that the headliner and A-pillars were covered in black suede - something I think is very cool.
So... now I'm considering re-covering the headliner of my painted targa top with black suede.
Does anyone have any idea how to take the headliner off the targa top? I'd like the suede to tuck under the sides of the targa frame so it looks like a factory installation.
I'm gonna do mine in velcro (loop side)...then put the hook side on my cell phone, iPOD, pager, cd case, garage clicker, map holder, tissue box, etc...

Funny...but an interesting idea. And why stop at the headliner with the hook side velcro?

I just got this mental image of my girlfriends long blonde hair stuck in a velcro roof on my corvette. I don't think she'd ever ride in it again.

Please let me know what you think.
Thanks!
I considered redoing my headliner in black leather (or leather-like vinyl). I also wanted to recover my interior door panels with the same material. After asking a couple of local trim shops about it, the consensus seems to be that leather will shrink over time. This would cause the installation to deteriorate too quickly as edges of the material pull inward.
Don't know how true that is, but it sounds reasonable. So, they steered me away from it. Obviously, suede is also leather.....
Black suede, don't mean you're good for me Black suede, just brings your mystery
I want to be inside of you
But you're black and I don't know what to do
You're a smooth dancer
But it's alright
Cos I'm a freelancer
And you can never break me though you try
To make me think you're magical
Baby, you're the one who can never see the sun
Because it don't shine nightly
Don't you look at me because I'm gonna shake free
You'd better hang on tightly
You wanna rule the world, but you're acting like a girl
Who's got a false pregnancy
You've swollen up inside with nothing but your pride
And yet you keep on dancing
Black suede, don't waste your time on me Black suede, I sense your mockery
I tried to go along with you
But you're black and I know just what to do
You're a smooth dancer
But it's alright
Cos I'm a freelancer
And you can never break me though you try
To make me think you're magical
I think you're crazy, your two-timing ways
They don't bother me none
You'd better do it right because one day or night
I'm gonna walk to freedom
You know I loved you once and I wanna love again
But you don't give nothing
You can see it in my eyes so you've got to realize
Baby, I ain't bluffing
Black suede, don't waste your time on me Black suede, don't bring me misery
I tried to be inside of you
But you're black and now I know what to do
You're a smooth dancer
But it's alright
Cos I'm a freelancer
And I can tell you're faking though you try
To make me think you're magical
Baby, you're the one who can never see the sun
Bacause it don't shine nightly
Don't you look at me because I'm gonna shake free
You'd better hang on tightly
You know I loved you once and I wanna love again
But you don't give nothing
You can see it in my eyes so you've got to realize
Baby, I ain't bluffing
Baby, you can rock'n'roll
But you can never show your soul, smooth dancer

I recovered my door arm rests my self with some leather that I bought from redline goods. They did my shifter boot for me, so the match is perfect and the leather is thin enough to wrap the pieces with no problem.
I had Al Knoch recover and embroider my center console in the same leather that he did my seats with.
Then I put torch red carpet and trim pieces throughout. The only thing left to do is the headliner and maybe the sunvisors.
