Hi first I have to say I love this place so informative..
I have a 96 CE LT1 350 4 speed automatic 39,000 miles
I bought the car about 3 weeks ago it had been sitting and not driven for a few months
I drove it no problems after about 100 miles the service engine light came on I got it checked and the code I got was P1441.
I bought a new OEM gas cap reset the system the light went out for about a day
I did a few searches for P1441 code and this what I could find Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Flow During Non-Purge-B
Has anyone had this problem and are there any easy fixes such as cleaning something fixing a leak or anything along those lines?
If not what is the part/parts I need and a rough cost.
Thanks again
Clay
Sorry Clay, no magic here, but a Factory Service Manual will be nearly as good. It contains step by step diagnostics for nearly any code. I believe the PCM montiors the O2 sensor for change during evap purge, if it doesn't see the correct change in voltage it sets the code, hope that helps.
Where do I find info on the reset procedure? Mine is on and I've checked the gas cap. Been using vpower 93 for several tanks now. I wanted to reset the light in case it was a fluke. Also, my change oil light came on and I had it changed and its still on...how do I reset that too?

Oil Change Light Shut-Off Procedure
1. Turn the key to the RUN position but don't start the engine.
2. Press the ENG MET button on the Trip Monitor. Within 5 seconds press the ENG MET button again.
3. Within 5 seconds of step 2, press and hold the GAUGES button on the Trip Monitor. The CHANGE OIL light will flash.
4. Hold the GAUGES button until the CHANGE OIL light stops flashing and goes out. This should take about 10 seconds. When the light goes out, the Engine Oil Life Monitor is reset. If it doesn't reset, turn the ignition to OFF and repeat
procedure.
Got it fixed. It was a bad ground on the EVAP canister purge valve (so I was told)
Dealer paid for it so I don't really care all I know is the light is out and has stayed out over a week now.
Thanks

For future reference, this is incorrect. You are probably confusing this with the AIR Injection system.
The computer watches the EVAP switch, not the O2 sensors, to check if vacuum is being sent to the canister. If the switch reports that there is vacuum present in the tube when there shouldn't be, then an EVAP diagnostic code will be thrown. The switch sits on the evap line right on top of the intake manifold, in front of the Evap Purge Solenoid. I believe you can fake it out and eliminate this code by jumpering the switch's wires together, but you shouldn't do this to fix the code unless you have eliminated EVAP or something, because if that hose is not plugged you will lose vacuum out of it.
