Okay, I tried putting on the hood I bought. No way is this the right hood for the car. It just doesn't match the front bumper, it's slightly too wide. I can't see how any amount of aligning is going to solve that problem! Does anyone have any ideas on why that would be? I was told this was a 93 hood, same year as my car, but then I was also told that they were all the same. Any ideas?

They are all the same except for the 84 hood which wouldn't be any wider. Is this a stock hood or an aftermarket hood ? Post a picture.

I'll snap one today and post it up when I get home. It's REALLY bumming me out! I was wondering if it could be something like maybe I had a zr1 hood by mistake. I don't know what they are supposed to look like or if they are remarkably different.
The 88 up hoods have slightly different understructure, they will fit all C-4s, but the earlier ones won't fit the 88 up (I may be wrong about the exact year. However, the Outside demensions of the hood are identical for ALL C-4's, There is nothing different about the Zr-1. There may have been some body work on one of the corners of the hood, but most likely it's normal. If the bumper is not aligned perfectly it will seem to magnify the difference. you may also try opening up the gap, or forming or adjusting the end pieces to move the bumper corners out slightly. Make sure all of the bolts are loose and free (including the front inner fender wells), when adjusting the front bumper assembly. Otherwise it may compress or "warp" the bumper into an incorrect shape. Sometimes it can take hours.

Too wide where?
The bumper is supposed to be wider at the very front corners. There is a visual taper from the hood into the bumper. There is some adj of the bumper "flaps" that create the front half of the wheel well.
Well, I didn't find my camera last night, so I will have to dig for it this weekend. Thanks for the advice, guys. I will try sorting it out one more time Saturday with some of the advice I got here, and if I still can't figure it out, I'll post some pics next week. I am SURE this is a C4 hood. As to whether it's stock or not, no clue. But knowing it SHOULD fit, I'll concentrate on what I might be screwing up to set things out of whack.
Anybody got a link for some step-by-step adjustment info? Ideally, with pics for those of us who need such crutches!
I had the same problem... got the hood and tried to put it on the car and I about sat down and cried. It took approximately 17 hours to get all the aligning issues worked out on the used 91 hood I got for my 93. It fits and looks great now, it just takes a lot of work to get to that point. My dad helped me and the first mistake we made was to try to fit it to the bumper. Fit the hood to the rest of the car and then realign the bumper. Good luck!
