okay, so im looking for a vette.... which do you recommend? the 4speeds... cheaper in price but older.. or the 93-96 6 speeds? which is faster? more reliable? only can spend like 9000, thanks.
Matt: as a newbe, use the search function, Advanced, Archive posts, and your question has been discussed alot, you should find some good info on the subject...
I have the 4+3 and it is great. If you get a car with the 4+3, make sure the seller can provide maintenance history for it and if it's been well-maintained, no worries. You can get a good six-speed car for that money, too. The six-speed is probably the better choice, but you don't have to fear a well-maintained 4+3.

The 4+3 is a better transmission than you'd think by reading this forum. Many people that knock it know very little about it. 90% of the 4+3 related problems you'll see on here are minor electrical control issues, not mechanical ($$$) failure. With that said, the 6-speed is still superior.
One thing I miss about the 4+3 is the auto kickdown, that's really fun when goosing it on the freeway, which IMO, is the only fun part about an automatic, so really the best of both worlds in theory, but in reality, not so much.

That depends - my 4+3 is set so that it only engages/disengages by pressing the button with the clutch in.
Plus iirc the 4+3 is lighter and geared slightly more aggressive.
