The rear hatch on my '85 vette won't open (just bought it btw). I tried to find the "emergency release cable" but for the life of me I can't find it! Any help? Pics would be a HUGE help. Thanks.
First off, I should have said: "congrats on the 'Vette and welcome to the forum."
If you are able to contact the previous owner (PO) ask them if they did anything unusual to the hatch. But the cable should do the trick. Yours might just be a bit corroded for some reason. I would pull the cable again and see if some combination of pulling harder or repeatedly pulling it would let it open while gently pushing up on the glass. I know it's tight but can you work your fingers up to the latch to feel if it's moving?
I'm getting ready to go on a 3 week road trip vacation (pretty much why I bought the vette). 2 weeks down Route 66, and a week coming back home on mostly scenic byways. The vettes gonna get a full restoration, but I need a few things fixed before I head out.
Right headlight motor is borked, need a new one.
Driver side window won't roll up. Worked fine on the way home. Rolled it down, now it won't roll up.
steering columns loose.
A good price on a new instrument panel.
