Default HVAC Problem 1994

First of all I have searched the forum and found out a lot on this air only blowing out the defroster vent problem. I have checked the controller vacume header and lines and they are ok. Lines are secure to the header and not pinched off. Checked the check valve up in the engine and it is ok. Checked the vacume lines on the passenger side up under the lower dash panel as well and they are ok and I have vacume to the black line there so I know vacume is getting into the inside of the car. Getting to a point where I am lost. Any other ideas on where to check? Thanks!

Thank you. I read that post prior to posting mine. My vett is a 1994 but maybe its put together the same way with the soft nipples. I hear no vacume leak coming from the vacume header connection and when I push and or wiggle the header nothing changes, air still comes out the defrost. So i figured that wasnt my problem but maybe it is. How did you get that darn metal clip off the header? Needle nose pliers? Hard to get up in there as you know.

Fixed it!! Removed the hvac controller and removed the cardboard rear cover and I was shocked to see a mouse had got in there and decided to chew on the clear rubber vacume manifold that the 5 vacume lines connect into!! Chewed a hole right into the end of it, the little bas____d!! Therefore it couldnt hold vacume. I have resealed the hole with sealer and vacume tested it and it holds vacume now. By the way, pre 1996 C4's have hard plastic nipples on the vacume header so they cant collapse as the 1996's can if this helps anyone in the future.
