Last weekend my local paper had an 01 C5 listed for 15,895 in the Saturday paper. Anyway I thought it was a misprint. Well it was there Sunday but they also listed a Cavalier and again thought it was a misprint. Monday as I coming back from checking my 62 miles of optical cable route I maintain I was driving past the dealer with the add and looked over to see a blue C5 and stopped. The car had a sticker for 24K but matched the number assigned the ad. Anyway as I checked out the car, a salesman came out and I asked if this was the car that was listed in the paper over the weekend. Anyway the sales mgr now came back with him and said that it was but that it was a weekend sale. But said as it was still early monday a.m. that I could have the car at the weekend price if I bought it that day. Anyway the car would not start, so I told them I would be back later when they could get it started. I came back that evening, and they had washed the car and charged the battery. ( it has a 65 series instead of a 75 series battery in it, we have also been over 100 degrees out here since may ). It has 90K on the clock but runs well, 6 speed, auto A/C, 3 position suspension, sport seats, auto head lights. So I called the wife, told her about it, and was gonna trade the 95A4, but they did not want to give any money for the trade. So now I have 2 Corvettes. I am still checking the RPO's to see what else is in it, Bose Cassette/12 CD changer, car cover, K&N chrome kit replacing the stock air filter. I was kinda suprised to find the C5 has no spare or tools to change a spare. ( weight savings ). Anyway the wife will not let me get rid of the 95A4 as she can not drive a 6speed. She id quick, but I can tell you C4 owners first had the C4 is no slouch.
Nice! That seems to be a great deal. Just FYI the C5 came with runflat tires so no spare or tools was ever with the car. Weird eh?
Very, I am a bit leary of that. I read the manual, and it says you can go 200 miles at less than 55. But I also noted that you can put non-EMT( run flat) ( EMT= Extended mileage tires on the car ).
Regularly check the pressure on the run-flats, as they may not appear to be low on air, when in actuality they may have very low pressure. Happened on my '03 ZO6 and did not realize as sometimes we do visuals.

Hope this helps
Thanks,
On my first extended drive I got the 2 chime and it said my RR was above 42 PSI. I just picked up a good gauge, but have the car in for service now to have all the fluids that should be done, done.
According to my 01 manual you should have a repair kit for the Z06.
I love that dealership tactic, it's old and worn. Sorry,,, I'm so jaded to the dealership B.S. that noone on Earth will ever convince me that they got a "good deal" at a dealer. Those people know EXACTLY what they have and are so dollar conscious that they would never ever dream of breaking even, or "jeez, we're actually losing money on this deal," . I'm really happy for ya, and I love those blue C5's, it's one of the colors that pulls the whole C5 thing off, but just parish the thought that you smoked these guys at the dealership. That said, if you're not calling me an A hole right now, fire off a few pics of it for us. Maybe I AM an A hole...

I agree with you, but for 15,900 an 01 6 Speed with sport seats, 3 position suspension, auto headlights, all options, I still think it a good price. I know 90k is high mileage, but there is no marks on the body, interior, everything works. I bought it to drive, am not trying to collect it as they made 35k of the C5'S a year. I had this conversation with my coworker/friend who has an 88 C4 he drives maybe twice a year. He is a collector, I am a driver.
All Non-Z06 C5s came with Goodyear run-flat tires and a low tire pressure monitoring system that will tell you when your air pressure it too low or too high. The valve stem is made into the air pressure sensor.
All C5 Z06s came with F1 Supercar Non-Runflat tires, and consequently included a tire inflator kit that included a can of leak stopper and a pump. The Z06s did not have the pressure sensors.
My wife can't drive a stick ( refuses to learn ) but loves the ride in the C5 compaired to the C4, and likes for me to drive her anyway, she has dragged every neighbor over to look at the car while I am at work. One of my neighbor's said to me that I sure have alot of hi-end GM products in my driveway. She has a Selville STS and I also have a 06 Silverado 3/4 ton 4x4 work truck.
Thanks, I picked up a C5 shirt when I first got the C4 as it was the only Corvette shirt available off the rack here, but rarely wore it as I later found some C4 shirts, anyway I now have a car for the shirt.

My nephew just bought a 02 C5 convrt with 50k mls for $25,000 wholesale.
He thought it was a good deal, but the same car here in a cpe is $24k.
C5's are sinkers, but a $15k your going to be alright.
My nephews 02 has a recall on the wheels the rear wheels are subject to cracking you might want to check that out.
He took his to the local dealer and they replaced them no charge.
Definitely a nice deal... even with shady dealer games. I just sold an '01 vert that needed some little things, for $20K, which was a good deal for the buyer.
