Default acrylic top

Would like to get some other feedback on repairing the "glass" top. I have read that a mixture of fiberglass resin, fiber glass dust, and super glue is the best way to repair the crack. Then sand & buff, anyone ever attemted to repair one of these tops? Really hate to spend money on a new one given the price when it is just the corner that is damaged. ALso anyone know a good way to "repolish" the whole top?

Default acrylic top

I have a 93 coupe and would also be interested in a way to refinish or repolish the top.

I've been told that you can 1500 grit wet sand it, and then use mirror glaze on high speed buffer, but I (like you) am trying to get others opinions on this before I try....

I'd start checking vendors (Melrose Tops is one people here on the forum recommend) for a replacement top. Most places will give you a core charge on your old top. When it comes to the acrylic top, replace it, don't "repair" it.

What we use on aircraft windshields will work well on this application for removing the haze. Its called a Micromesh kit.
Here what It looks like.

Why? For a minor repair, it's better that 3-700.00 for a new one

Besides, the new one is going to break or haze in the long run again.

That's why I'm glad I have the solid roof panel in my '93. The acrylic roof on my '85 got on my nerves.

Oh I have a solid one, just would like the option to have a glass top without the $$....A buddy of mine gave it to me because it was damaged on one corner and I posted to see if any one new of how to fix the crack, it is only about 2" on one of the corners.

If it were me, I'd try the repair

I had the acrylic one (3 of them) and they all broke

I've now switched to a hart top. I miss the ability to see out at night

Do the repair and have both If it was free, you really have nothing to loose

I took my top to Mexico and had it painted black for $20. It cuts down on the interior heat and protects against skin cancer now.
