Default Replacing the turn signal switch

This evening I tried to activate the turn signal for a right turn and the signal stalk just kind of flopped and no right turn signal. The left worked OK at first. A little later I signaled a left turn. The signal worked but now the lever is flopping in both directions. High beams and washer functions still work. Do I replace the ring and connector arrangement that is offered by Ecklers and others as a replacement turn signal switch, or do I have to replace the turn signal lever as well? TIA!

Just did mine and it's a major PITA. I'll bet it's not the switch. What happens is a raised piece on the WIPER switch that activates the turn signal switch breaks off and the stalk wont activate right turn, left turn works but won't cancel manually. Sound familar?? The fix is pull the airbag modual, steering wheel, airbag coil, lockplate and canceling ring, pull the turn signal switch as far as you can after removing the metal wishbone piece attached to it. pull the ignition cylinder key switch, then the upper housing cover and then you can remove the broken wiper/ pivot switch. Ecklers has the best price on the switch you need. Good Luck to you.

Green Hornet, thanks! Your description is exactly what I experienced. I'll be ordering the wiper switch in a few minutes. Based on your description of the work involved I haven't decided if I will do the work or have it done.

If you have a Factory Service Manual, you can tackle this job. If you have any questions along the way just pm me and i'll help you any way i can, heck, if you were closer i'd come over and do it for you. I learned a few tricks about getting everything back together after doing mine.
Let me know how things work out for you.

Sorry it took so long to reply I've been away from the computer for few days. I ordered the part from Corvette Central (they had it in stock), and the car is going to the shop in the AM. I will invest in the manual soon but based on the description of the work involved, and demands on my time I decided to follow the path of least resistance and pay to have the work done. I'll post an update when the work is done.

Default Wiper/pivot switch

Green Hornet, this is exactly why had just happened to my 1992 Corvette. I can't find the part you are suggesting anywhere. Do you have a part number?

Lori, welcome to the Forum. You have responded to a post that is 12 years old, so you probably won't get the answer you're looking for. We call that a "Zombie" thread. Please start a new thread.

It;s the bottom 2 that are out of stock, maybe Ecklers or Corvette Central would have one. check their site with the part numbers.

Your best option is to look on eBay.

I just purchased one from eBay a couple of months ago.

Hi All - I know this is a 13yo thread, but this exact thing has happened to me!
I parked the car, thinking 'I'll worry about that later'..... but seeing as my rego is now due, I think I better start worrying about it - especially considering I'm in Australia, and I'll have to try & ship parts during this global pandemic!

So can anyone give me some updated info on what the actual parts are that I need, as I'd like to get the parts here so I can pull it all apart & fix it at the same time - rather than dismantle & then wait weeks for parts to arrive!
Is it this:
https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corv...1989-1996.html

And seeing this is a common problem, does anyone know of a step by step or video showing what to do?
I think I'll need to get a FWSM.....

Pandemic or not it's always best to get the parts before you tear your car apart. Nothing worse than tearing it apart, rendering car inoperable, and the part you need is no longer available, and you can't even find a used one. Even worse, you break something else during dis-assembly that you now need to find. Yes, I have an 1984....

The turn signal lever on our 1992 broke and after looking for days on the internet I finally had to buy a complete steering column out of a wrecked 1992 C4 and had it shipped to my home. I located the steering column at Dino’s Corvette Salvage - phone number - 1-601-818-8389.

After getting the steering column, it was easier to take it apart on the work bench to see how it came apart, and then how it went back together. Dino was a lot of help, and I would order parts from him again. It was more expensive to buy the entire steering column than just the part, but I couldn’t find just the part so I did what I had to do to get it fixed. A plus was I got a really nice almost new steering wheel with the column to replace my worn out one.

Good Luck!
