The a/c charge ports, high side, low side, are different sizes so your charging hose will only connect to the proper port to put in the freon. Its the smaller of the two ports if I remember right.

I just recharged mine recently and discovered the schrader valve was leaking a little bit. Nice to have cold AC again but as soon as it runs out I will be replacing my valve. I've been told it's real simple to replace. You might want to check to see if your valve is seeping before you recharge it. This might save you a little time and $$ if you find yours leaking like mine is. "just a thought" :-)

My schrader valve was leaking as well. I tightened it and also when I added the freon I made sure I bought the freon that has both dye and leak sealer in it just in case there was a tiny leak elsewhere. That was about 3 years ago and a/c is still working just fine. Nice and cold.

Are you sure about that? IIRC, the low side is the LARGER port of the two; also the low side has larger lines, and on my 85 to charge the system it's done on the accumulator, and not on a line itself. But in any case, the coupler will only fit on one side (low).

The 85 is different. Both valves are on the lines in the 90's versions.

Your line from the freon can will ONLY connect to the low side. It wont fit the high side connector therefore you cant mess up.
