I am a C-3 owner and have recently purchased a 90 coupe for my wife and of course the Bose system is not working. Is there anyway to test the amps to see if they are bad or can I bypass the amps and connect the speakers or must the amps be hooked up to work. I get a loud squeeling noise when the radio is turned on and the reception is poor, sounds like the stations are not tuned in,any help would be appreciated!

Barry. from what you describe it sounds like the AMPS. Each speaker has it's own AMP and when they go bad the sounds you describe are apparent. Try this web site he has repaired all of my AMPS and can help you isolate the problem...www.drdons.com
If the stations wont tune in , its the head unit, if the amps are squeeling then one or MORE amps are bad. If you are going to keep the car, send the head unit and all fours amps to Dr. Dons . The head unit repair is about $125 and the amp are about $55 each. These prices are a few yars old.
