Remember... CarFax only shows reported damage. Some cars may have been in an accident that was never reported to the insurance company. You have to take carFax as a guide, not a rule.
Your probaly going to have to go old school get a tram gauge and make your own measurments with a tram gauge in the top half of the car. Most modern frame equipment only measures the rails suspension points etc. Take a friends vette measure it and then compare to your own. Mind you will not have the same numbers from any two cars but you will not be flying blind.
Ok good news, body shop confirms frame measures perfect, bad news still cannot figure out why top is off so much? Having a window guy come today to to look at the windshield and see if he can figure it out! FRUSTRATING
Gordon was the 'answer man' at the Bowling Green during the C4 run. He answered the Vette questions for all GM dealers, service techs, and owners. I've met him, and he's a great guy with an encyclopedic knowledge of C4 Vette problems. If this issue affected other C4's he probably knows about it. A call to him would probably be the best $20 you spent trying to fix this problem.

Yeah, no final word on what was causing it but they have the top on!
I needed a new windshield anyway so he is going to pull that out and says that the "a" pillars can be adjusted. Anyone heard of this?
Yea I have.. It is a great fix for your problem. I talked to the body shop I deal with and he told me he has done it several times over the years on C4’s. I didn't want to suggest it because I know you were freakin out over the alignment problem and I figured the last thing you would want to hear was to remove the windshield and have the pillars adjusted.. Hope it works ok and doesn't cost you too much so you can start enjoying your car again like when you first started posting on here...
Has your body shop verified that the top is adjusted correctly at the rear halo? the 2 rear brackets mounted on the body (above and behind your head) are adjustable and use shims. These are the mounts on the body, not on the glass itself. The glass should sit level with the rear halo when lightly snugged and have a 3/16" of an inch gap between the glass and the halo.
Hey don't know if you remember me or not but the one that told you that the top you where selling was off of an older car but you said I didn't know what I was talking about anyway I had the same problem with my car the frame is straight but with the top out the car sagged more on one side so i jacked the car up and got it perfect and put an X brace on the car and have not had any problem with the top going on or braking and if you get a solid fiberglass top they are stronger them the acrylic tops so I hope that helps you solve you problem.
