Default Signal lights

My signal lights do not work. The directional arrow in the dash doesn't come on either. The lever does return after making the turn. I can see that the light is on but it is not "clocking". What shall I check first?
I recently posted a thread about not being able to put my high beams on because the lever won't engage. Question: are these two problems connected? Thanks for all any help.

Do the dash arrows light up and blink when you turn on the 4-way hazard flashers? That's a quick way to check if the dash lights are bad. Do all of the outside lights flash with the hazard flasher on? Two lights at each side at the back and the front turn signal lamps should be flashing.

If you have any bulbs out, replace them and test again.

If all of the bulbs work with the hazard flasher on, then you may have either a bad turn signal flasher or the turn signal switch is bad. The turn signal flasher is a PITA to get to.

The fact that you have a problem with the high beam switch could make sense regarding the turn signals not working. The high beam switch and the turn signal switch are both part of the stalk assembly.
