Default radio installation problem

Had an after market am/fm cd player and speakers installed in my 90 coupe replacing the broken Bose sytem, when I picked it up the cd sounds great but now has no radio, the installer said he could not find antenna wire to plug in,does this have a plug like most antennas or is it different,if so do I need to install a mast type antenna?

Of course there is an an antenna wire if the car had a radio in the first place. The wires (power, antenna, speakers, etc) are short and the antenna wire was dropped and disappeared in the harness. Or the power antenna was not connected. Take it back and tell them to do it right. Almost all aftermarket radios and players support any factory options

Maybe the '90 has a 2 piece factory radio? I'm not sure. if so, then the antenna lead may still be plugged into the other part or "receiver". Of course the installer may not have had the GM mini antenna adapter to connect it.

It's easy to find. Remove the air vent and the bolster on the pass side of the car, look down thru were the vent goes, you will see the cdm, a silver box w/ some wires running to it, in the front you will see the radio antenna. You will need to purchase an adapter and an extenstion for the antenna. There is also a wire that makes the antenna go up and down, it is plugged into the on the right side of the CDM w/ two other wires.

Check out th Audio section, there is a C4 FAQ sticky at the top, all of your questions will be answered there.

Good Luck

Default just completed my 90 radio install

I just got done with my installation of a kenwood stereo in my 90 coupe. It was really easy. I bought a tuner bypass wiring harness and it made the bose replacement simple to do. This harness has all the controls you need, like antenna control and the antenna adapter you will need. Go to www.carstereoremoval.com and spend $10.00 to get the information you need and they have great pictures to help you out. One more thing, If your stereo was not wired with all new wires to the speakers, you will not be able to use the fade and balance buttons on the radio. If you need any more info give me a pm and let me know if I can help you any more. John

The cdm is either in the compartment behind the passenger seat or above the passengers feet depending on year and if it's a coupe or vert. The power antenna, power, and antenna wires need to be taken from the cdm. If the power isn't from that circuit then the radio won't stay on till the door is opened like the factory radio. the illumination comes from where the headunit was or the sys light will be on.
