Hello- How's about being able to shift into second when you want to, at the right time? This is the single most user friendly thing that you can do for your car! Disadvantages? I can't think of a single one. I more than highly recommend it!
Can anyone explain the advantages and disadvantages of disconnecting the CAGS?
Thanks in advance
Advantage - doesn't **** you off when you want to goto 2nd and it forces you to 4th
Disadvantage - none.
Depending on your car, you can just disconnect the connector. Some of the years throw a code. My 89 never had any code issues. If you get a code, you can have it programmed out or get the "bypass module" that plugs into the connector.
By the way, if you had the six-speed, you wouldn't have to ask why you would want to unplug the CAGS, trust me. It's that bad.
hah yeah you ain't kidding.
When I bought my car way back when, I think the CAGS was already disconnected.
After I rebuilt my motor a few years back, we must have reconnected it not knowing what it was.. so all of the sudden i can't shift into 2nd anymore and I couldn't figure out why until I stumbled into a CAGS thread and learned about it. I unplugged it again and was back to happier shifting
