Default Made a decision!

I know I started off on here with what may have seemed like tons of trouble but I have made a decision. I am still going to try and sell or trade my beauty for a vert. But until that time, she is beautiful and runs spectacular! I am going to detail her the way she deserves this weekend and will post pictures, hopefully Monday for all to enjoy!

You just need a man to help you with it.

Convertibles are a load of fun too, I can understand not wanting to arm wrestle the top on and off whenever you want a little wind in your hair. Do what makes you happy they're all great cars.

The tops can be a bit of trouble to put on and take off, I don't have any issues with mine but my father who is significantly smaller then I am had no end of problems putting it on and taking it off.

I have both a coupe and a vert. The differences I see between the two.

1. The coupe rides better when the targa is in.
2. With the targa top out, the vert rides better...doesn't matter if the top is up or down.
3. The vert top is a little quicker and easier to take down.
4. The vert top has more maintenance than the targa.
5. The coupe has about 3-4 time more room to throw "stuff".
6. It's difficult to go on a long trip and take luggage (more than 3 days) unless it's by yourself. If you stuff the back compartment with luggage, the top will not go down.
7. Verts come with a undercarriage X- brace for stability, where the coupes do not.

When your looking at a vert, make sure you check to make sure the top does not "bubble" up while driving. You may have seen this...as I have seen the vert tops have a hump to them when traveling down the road. This is apparently the headliner has come loose from the actual top. If a cat gets on the top, it's time to put antifreeze in some hot dog weiners.

I rarely let the top down, mainly due to the short trips I usually make. I prefer the coupe over the vert due to the looks. BUT, if the vert has a hardtop, the vert come first.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

Aquablue ... don't try to compare and then make such a decision about one over the other, ....the answer is to have one of each!!

Wrong.

You look real cool messing with a ratchet or power tool while I have put my top up or down and have left some time ago.

Both look good, but seriously, why hate on the Vert? Both styles have their advantages and disadvantages. Just enjoy the ride.

To aqua: RRT Vette gave some good info on verts. I'd hit him up for more if I were you.

I believe the 95 was the first year for the glass rear window in the verts-the plastic ones need more care.

I thot 94 was the first year for the glass window. I would prefer that over my plastic, and they have defrost if you need that. But know if you do spend time driving your vert with the top up, they are a lot noisier.

I own a coupe, love it. But I do like the styling of the vert. My wife has a vert, (not a vette) and they are really nice when the weather is right. Here in AZ we put the top down in the spring and fall only.

From your avatar I gotta wonder why you didn't get a vert in the first place. The "practical" Vette was already in the family, right?

If you only have one and it is frequently driven, the Targa is the best choice -- but if I had a few $$$$ to spare, there would be some sort of vert in the garage.
