I had this posted in tech/perf..not getting any reply maybe it should have been potsed here??? I have a 95 lt1 automatic..so far ive added magnaflow mufflers and the slp cold air intake system..im thinking of adding a few more mods to the list but would like some opinions on what im assembling and what can be expected. Nothing to crazy...52mm bbk tb, 1.6 roller rockers, larger maf sensor w/ ported housing and dont kill me but an airfoil(i've read conflicting reports on these???) what can i expect to gain with these adds? (want to do cam, but i heard its a pain without pulling motor, and im gunshy of removing the opti for fear of messin up timing)
Thanks,
-Chris
Don't want to guesstimate on the power, but if you want the best bang for your buck - seat of the pants - stoplight to stoplight - insta grin gain, put some gears in it. Either 3.54's or 3.73's.
finally: well, the mods you listed, except maybe the RR 1.6, arn't really going to do you any increase to speak of, or are really needed, your current equipment exceeds your current config.
If you want some bang: Headers, Torq Converter, and gears....
Forget the air foil, and i have some swamp land in florida....
If you put a bbk throttle body on it's already built in (air foil) I just put a bbk 58mm throttle body on and had my intake machined, stock intake will take a 52mm throttle body without machining anything larger machine work involved, watch them o2 sensors.
i guess what im looking for is more low end power off the line...the car runs good for 113k on the clock..ive had top end up to 135 but off the line it seems kinda doggish im sure cuz of the 3.07's?? my thoughts were that getting more air into the motor would make it a little stronger...the heads were just rebuilt in april, and tranny has been upgraded with kevlar parts and shift kit(supposed to be able to handle 500hp) itll bark the new 10.5 40's shifting into second. how hard is a gear swap and where can i find this hot cam kit?
Many people have installed the LT4 hot cam kit with great results. I picked up 40RWHP but it's mostly at the top end not the low end. The hot cam kit (which includes roller rockers) allows the valve train assembly to safely rev a bit higher than stock. say 6250 vs. 5800 and cuts down on friction thus freeing up HP.
If you are looking for low end grunt then I would suggest a torq converter and perhaps set of long tube headers but in my view there's nothing wrong with a 3:07 rear.
I'm certainly no expert but I don't think that you are going to see anything significant by just putting on a larger TB

OK..so i've now decided(thanks to the forum memebers advice) on some headers and some 3.54 gears. My questions are: 1. shorty headers or long tube? Something that doesnt require modification to fit. 2. Where is the best place to get headers and gears from? 3. Any other adds that will complement those 2 mods?

LT headers, EM, Melrose, Stainless Works, et al
With stock heads and cam the Stainless Works headers are probably a good bet.
If I was in your shoes I'd either leave the motor stock and do converter/gears or...... HEADS, CAM, LTs, and the converter/gears.
I know you did not want to pull the engine; however, removing an LT1 is not that difficult, I can get mine out in under 4 hours using the TPIS happy hooker.
Installation takes a hair longer due to burping the cooling system, remembering where all of the wiring
goes etc

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
