I just read that the Bosch Mafs use 2 relays-one for the maf and a burnoff which is used to clean the wire in the maf. The article said that the ac delco mafs didnt use the burnoff relay. It mentioned that bosches were used factory from '85-89 while ac delcos were used on'94 and later. Does that mean the the ac delcos replacements for the '85-89 wouldnt use the burnoff relay or did they just mean '94 and later didnt utilize a burnoff relay?
I just ordered a new ac delco maf for my '88 and wanted to make sure it would work well as a replacement for my factory Bosch.
Troubleshoot before going any further. Pull the code and see which MAF code you have...if any. If no code, just test the wiring anyway. The links below are provided by AGENT 86
The power relay and burnoff relay can be gotten at a Chevy dealer or just about any part stores (Autozone, Napa, ect).
The 85 uses a burn off module, not relays. 86 thru 89 use a pair of relays. The relays are common and can be picked up from most parts stores. I am told the 85 burn off module is no longer available. GM discontinued and not picked up by any aftermarket suppliers.
