Default e brake emergency

My 1986 e brake may need shoes. I tightened the adjustment cable to the max but still no grip. I'd like to drive it to Carlisle next weekend. Any suggestions as to how to adjust?

Oh the dreaded eBrake fiasco that got me. On my early 86 as well the little finger that sticks out behind the plate that to cable attaches to was froze so I had to take the entire thing apart and break it free and then lubricate it, after all this it worked great. Both sides were frozen. This procedure also allowed me to set the shoes correctly as well. I also installed three new cables. Is the eBrake stuck on? Should not hurt you to drive it with no eBrake, just avoid steep hills.

It is really no big deal unless you have stick shift and you park on a hill.
Reverse is the lowest gear in the trans if it's stick. park it nose down, and put it in reverse.
If you truly want to fix it, jack it up, and crawl underneath.
Get someone to pull the handle, and release it. see if the cable is moving. if the arms are stuck, do as Bob suggests, and take it apart.
A clean brake is a happy brake.
I pulled the backing plates off of mine, and plastic media blasted everything in the drum/disc, and put it all back together.
Looks primo dude.
The only problem is I have to jack it up, take off the wheel, nut, and disc to show anybody..............

couple of house bricks save a lot of time and money!!!
there's a hole in the rotor.Line it up with the star adjuster and with a flat blade screwdriver push down on the drivers side and up on the other.Lock them tight and then back off a couple of notches 'till you can turn the wheel. You should do this with no tension on the cable.Adjust the cable afterwards. If it doesn't work you need new shoes.
