I bought a 92 Vette this past April. The first couple of months I drove it, I was able to turn the parking lamps on (including fog lamps) without the hideaway lights opening. My battery died and ever since every time I turn just the parking lamps on or parking lamps with fog lamps, my hideaway headlights pop up. Is there a way to set the headlights where they won't pop out when I turn on just the parking lamps? I can't find anything in the owners manual nor on the Internet. It's probably been asked here before but I can't find a search option to go through the forums.
Parking lamps should come on without the headlamps popping up. Possible bad headlight switch? I know if you turn on the headlamps and then go back to parking light setting the headlamps go off but stay opened. Thats why I am wondering if its in the switch. Just an idea. Good luck.

It's driving me crazy!!!
Thanks!

Had a similar problem when the shims in the headlight actuator needed to be replaced, as evidenced by the actuator motors running excessively long when the headlights were turned on or off. Seems the light actuator computer gets confused when it dosen't properly sense that the actuator is against the limits stop. Sounds wierd, but fixed my problem for less than $5.00 and a little time.

I believe you are right. The motors do run for about 5 seconds after the headlights flip up/down. Does that sound about how long the motor ran when you had your issue?
"theadmiral94 When the headlight doors are up (when you do not want them to be), are the headlight light-bulbs on?"
The answer is no to this. The headlights work fine when they are on and when I turn them off they stay up until I turn the parking lights off (which is what they are supposed to do).
I will hunt the part down - thanks for all the tips!
