Default Outer window seals.

Gotta replace the outer seals this year before it gets cold and I would like some response from members who used aftermarket products vrs. those who bought G.M. The aftermarket ones are considerably less expensive. Comments please? Allentown Ernie.

I bought mine from Willcox Corvette. I didn't even price the GM ones from my local dealer. I have an 89 and the replacement took me about 3 hours from start to finish. Just a suggestion, don't try to take any shortcuts by leaving the door panels on etc. I tried it with the driver's side and I wound up taking the panel off anyway. I think it actually saved me some time. There were no instructions included with the set I bought. They actually came from Corvette America through Willcox. They were a few bucks cheaper and I am very pleased with the results and the quality of the product.

One thing to keep in mind, nothing fits like an OEM part, you pay more but you get what you pay for.Ive found that 90% of the aftermarket parts Ive had were total JUNK.That and I dont think you can get these from GM anymore.

I used Ecklers. 3 hors sounds about right. Just take your time and be patient. Once done, you won't "pinch" your arm anymore either.....

The seals are cheap. I got one from http://www.superchevyperformance.com/ when I first got my car. I used screws for fasteners instead of rivets as well, it worked much better IMO.

I bot mine from Ecklers. They were pretty inexpensive, and suffered none from quality. I paid less for the pair than I have seen them going for 1 on ebay. They aren't that expensive.

You can never go wrong with GM parts, but others will do the job. Take your time and remove the door panel.

There was a thread here a couple of days ago about install- worth a search. The how-to article was great- can't remember the magazine off of the top of my head now. Mr Mojo gave advice when I was looking that is sound- take your time!!
I used the ones from Mid America with no trouble- rivets included. The thread will have "rivet" in the title. Gotta run or I'd look it up.

You don't say what year.Fill in your profile.Mine I think were from ecklers at around $70 but I bet you will find them cheaper.Often the dealer price can amaze you so check first.Definatly pull the door panel and while your in there if you have an old car replace the window anti rattle bumpers for around $15. I put the quiet kit in as well and it made a hell of a difference.

I bought genuine GM from Superior Chevy (in Kansas City), don't know the 1-800 number right off, but told them I was a member of this forum and got a discount, they cost me $57 delivered to my house (and I had to pay sales tax, in state).

This may be the article he was referring to. If it isn't it is still a pretty good one.

No problem. Didn't take me anytime at all to find it because I have it saved in my favorites. Reason being is I bought a new set from Mid America a year ago and one of these days I have to get off my lazy a$$ and replace mine.
