Help! One of my headlamp covers just fell off! It appears to have been glued on to the bracket that connects to the headlamp bucket with bolts.
What do I use to re-attach the mounting bracket, and how do I go about it? Clean the old adhesive off? Solvents? Grind or sand? How much? What about mating the surfaces?
I don't want to buy a new part, which I would have to try and match the paint or blend into the hood and bumper. Can anybody help?
I had this happen to me too. I cleaned the adhesive with fantastic and applied GE silicone sealant/adhesive and clamped them together for 1 day. Two weeks later 800 miles on the interstate and it is still stuck on.
I removed the whole unit and set it on a towel on my living room floor. Stacked my Wife's library books on top of it. I am not kidding, she loves the car too and doesn't want in the garage any more than I do. There are alignment tabs on the cover so positioning is exact. (Added note GE RTV !!)
