Default newbie needs some info.

Just got my 5th vette. Had 2 58's, a 62 and an 81. I now have an 87, black coupe. She had 57,000 mile & I have put 2,000 on her in the last month.

I love her, except she seems to run warm, 220 coolant and 215 on oil. I hear this is normal ??? I notice the air intake is not affixed to the top crossover cowling, and it appears the two hold down screws have nothing to attach to. I would like to upgrade the intake air scoop if possible.

Tomorrow I get some sweeping (yellow & black flags) vinyl graphics installed by my son who is a graphic artist. (I will post some picks).

I have two plexiglass tops and both are cracked (minor) but I would like to replace, would consider a solid top. What should I pay?

Thanks,

Lee

If the car is completly stock. The main fan should come on at 227*. If the car came equiped with a aux fan, it should come on at 235-238*. That temperature is normal. Is this when driving or at idle? If while driving, that is a little high and you probably have some trash between the radiator and A/C condensor.

Not sure about the air intake question.

The fiberglass targa tops are more expensive. Expect to pay $500-600 for one in real nice shape.

It is common for Bubba to reef on the air filter housing ***** and strip out the threads that they go into. Unhook it from the throttle body and lift it off. You will then see the area that needs to be repaired.
While you have it off unbolt the cover that the housing sets on. You can then vacuum out the leaves and debris that you will surely find between the radiator and the AC condenser.

have 87 also, 220 during traffic or hot days is normal, main fan on at 226, oil tem in line, no issues with deg's.

You can use the search for Tops, or post in c4 for sale section. Air intake for 87, best bet open air filter box, again search there's posts in the archives on this process, easy... Also check the C4 Tech tips for alot of info.
