Default Help with engine no....

Can someone please help me decipher this engine number...
VO319CMB2M20XXXX
It is in an 88 vette, but I am sure it is not the original motor.
TIA

V=Flint Michigan plant

0319= May 19

CMB= 1991 L98 TPI Automatic Transmission

1975 also used CMB as a suffix code, but it more than likely is the 91 because these codes were reused over the years.

Not sure what the 2M20XXX is. It may be a production number for a crate engine.

You need to get the block casting numbers from the back to find out what year(s) it was manufactured to pin point the date a little better.
