Replaced the whole wiper blade (not just the rubber) with Trico exact-fits 20-2 as per the listing at Pep Boys. I have seen where some have had probs with new blades hitting the hood or getting stuck but mine now sweep out too far. So far the driver side one scratched the black paint off the pillar trim. Are the 20's too big? What size should they be?

Thanx, -Pete.
I have read where many have solved the problem by replacing only the rubber. cheaper too!
original metal was looking a bit weathered so i figured i would replace both this time. i changed them out tossed the originals and the first time it rained after the ds wiper started overshooting the windshield and scratching the pillar. too late to go back now.....
There's a way to adjust the travel. I think the wiper motors are the same for all the C4s so if you don't have the FSM for your car, let me know and I could scan the instructions out of my 96 FSM...
tobijohn, yes if you could send me that fsm regarding the adjustment i would most appreciate it. the one thing i don't get is that the travel was fine before i changed the blades. can anyone tell me the correct size?

Can't send attachments via the CF email option so I'll just post them here. You can right-click on the individual thumbnail and download them to your PC. I was puzzled too about the fact that it worked before you replaced them. Could a previous owner have replaced them with a shorter blade assembly rather than adjust them? I'll see if there's any mention of the correct size in the FSM...
