Took out my '93 C4 and met up with Sin City Vette's last night. Had dinner and crusied a bit. Got a lot of nice comments about my car from them (Nice to meet you all!). Really enjoyed driving the car and got me thinking. I have it up for sale ($9950.00) to move up to a C5 but then starting thinking maybe stay $$ conservative and get a 96 LT4 M6 car. Looked around and found quite a few at $15K to $20K! Seems high as there are a bunch of early C5's with comprable miles for the same price. I did find one fairly local, TR coupe (desired color), 88K miles for $15K. Also found a 95 with 75K miles for $12.9K.
Sooo, Is it worth a couple extra grand for a LT4 vs LT1, all else being fairly equal?
And would it be worth a few more grand to just get a C5? I know all the "you can mod the C4 to get C5 performance" stuff but what I would do to a C4, I'd end up doing to a C5 anyway (intake, exhust, etc).
Is it worth it to get an LT4? Yes. Is it that much faster? No. LT4's are rare and getting rarer, and as such are really starting to climb in value (IMO they will go alot higher).
The LT4 is a very nice package, but most have been ridden hard.
Maybe look at trying to get an LS1 car? It would be newer and maybe not hot rodded as much. Since the LS3 came out, the prices are dropping.
