Default Weatherstripping advice

Hello all, its been a while since ive posted anything on this fourm since I knocked the front end off my 86 coupe a few years back. . Well ive just got her painted, and now of course I need to replace all the seals on it.

I hear the original GM seals are the way to go, but when I priced seals at my local chevy dealership yesterday the price came to well over $1500 for them. So of course, id rather get a cheaper kit - alot cheaper I hear the Ecklers kit is "ok" but still some of the seals arent cut right and dont fit well. Id like to know exactly what those peices are that dont fit so I can buy those specific ones from GM so it doesnt break my bank. The paint job already broke my bank ($3k) so im licking my wounds from that one stil

So perhaps some of you can give me some advice on what to do about getting a weatherstrip kit. Id of searched old threads on this, but you never know who is selling a good kit from one month to the other, so I appreicate the help.

I have a vert. All the vert parts I got from Eckler's works great. But the problem I have had is with the door seals. I have not found any that fit correctly and have really messed things up. So I would purchase those from GM at $200 per door. OUCH!

Is there a better place to purchase the original GM parts? I know for my bike I could ger Yamaha OEM parts.

It's fairly simple.

Driver car...most any of the known name weatherstripes will do fine.
Show car... go with GM.

The most important piece is going to be the A-pillar, JMO as where most leaks occur.

The WS have to be replaced what every 12-15 years depending on where the car sits. The GM is the best and probably worth it, if you have the funds.
