I need to replace the water pump on my 90 L98. The manual says that I have to de-pressurize the fuel system, remove fuel rails, a/c brackets and all kinds of stuff. For you guys that have changed the water pump on your 90, is it really all that difficult?
Try the link to an advanced search, I used ('90 water pump replacement) also ckick on the other tab_tech tips_ C-4 and there are tips for replacing and repairing all sorts of componets on our '90.
I just finished doing mine, not a bad job, it is also a good time to remove the AIR system,if your car has an oil cooler & you want to replace the heater hoses, let me know via a PM, the 3/4" heater hose is no longer available fron GM, I can tell you what I used. I would plan on replacing the thermostat and removing the rad for cleaning also. I used a high flow Edelbrock wp, I would suggest a new verses rebuilt unit, this is not a job you will want to do again. Also, you will need new "O" rings for the fuel lines.
Good luck
BTW, if your car does have an oil cooler, you will need to replace the two hoses down by the oil filter also. You can buy them from GM, about $10.00 each.

Its pretty straight forward, once you get all the crap out of the way, i didnt de-pressurize anything, yes you need to un-screw both fuel lines, unbolt the air conditoner pump, and some other odds and ends, but you can squeeze the new water pump in without taking alot of that stuff completely off.
The bottom hose can be a nightmare to get on after you bolt everything back in, so i'd suggest replacing that one for sure.
took me about 3 hours, with some help from my brother to complete the job. Just take your time, remember were things went, try to do it all in a day.
