Default 1985 corvette

How would I be able to find out if my 1985 coupe has Z51 or not. I called the dealer and they said the car was too old to find out by my VIN#. I think he was lying and was too lazy to do it. My VIN# is 1G1YY0780F5137970. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Printzoftides. I also wanted to give a bump to Eric or golfman as he is better known, for the big mouth air dam I just ordered. That kit is hot!!

I can't remember where the options sticker was on my '85. I think it's under the storage compartment lid in the hatch area or under the console lid. Look for RPO Z51. If it's on the sticker, the car has it. Enjoy your car!

Look under the cargo door drives side behind the seat. You will see tons of three grouped numbers. Look for Z51. the vin has nothing to do with the option.

Here's a visual of what a RED-85-Z51 looks like.

I think you need that #3 to be present in order for it to be a Z51.
(Someone will correct me, and send a nasty PM)

I don't have that designation on mine, so I know mine isn't a Z51.

Another quick way to check is to see how far your steering wheel turns before hitting the lock. Z51 is 2 complete turns, Base is 2 3/4 turns. Oh and your tires will be 9.5 inches wide instead of 8.5

If your option sticker is missing from the storage bin lid you can contact the National Corvette Museum. They maintain all records from 1981 to present. Give them your VIN and you can order an original window sticker and build sheet for $75.00. If you don't want to spend that, whoever you speak to there will have the data base right in front of him and may tell you.

Just check to see if you pee blood.

Just to be clear, someone else posted that in answer to the same question a while back, I just liked it so much I had to repeat it.

On my '85, t hat's exactly where the options sticker is; under the storage compartment lid in the hatch area. Indeed, look for
RPO Z51.
