Am watching one on ebay now, bidding ends tomorrow, and they are REALLY high priced as well, but worth it if it saves lots of $$$!!!

It is not really the cost of parts, as much as the age of these vehicles.
For example If My Ford truck needed a alternator, it would cost around $175.00, If my 89 vette needed one, it would only be around $95.00.
Since my truck is much newer than the vette, its more likley i would need to replace it on the vette first.
I have found that most cars with FWD , with the engines in sideways, are much harder to work on.
So the "tax" [repair bills] on these cars are more due to their age, than anything else. But i dont believe for a minute, "with a similar problem and part" it is anymore expensive to fix a corvette than a Ford focus.
Here are the tax deductions i have
1. 97 Ford -150..Same fuel injectors on the vette "bye the way"
2. 00 Ford Tarus. Wife
3. 01 Ford focus "Kid 2"
4. 91 Chevy Camaro "Kid 1"
5. 89 Chevy Corvette "Dad"
None are less or more expensive than the other to fix.
even interiors, and the prices... i had a 6" butcher knife shoved in my tarus seat " it was broken into....repair cost..400.00,,thats just for a bottom seat cover, i can buy two Leather vette seats mounted on foam for a bit more than double that.
But seriously...who swaps out the interior in their Ford Tarus?
few and far between. but if it costs 400 to change out 1/2 a seat imagine the cost for both seats top and bottom?
My opinion. When you take the Vette to get repairs, the shop looks at it and says VETTE, DOUBLE the price of the repair.
Vettes have complicated electronic systems, they take many hours of troubleshooting to isolate the fault. You will soon find out.
I agree with the tax part . Take a radio- the pioneer that fits the dash
crutchfield= 250.00
mid america = 499.00 same radio
I have found it pays to shop around
