White 96...Want to have the window's tinted.....Guy recommended 15%....Is this going to be too dark to see out or poor visibility in the rain?????What are you guy's using or your recommendation's???????Different % on the back and side's??????Really want to be able to see out of side window's at night.......Thank's!!!!!!!!!
Not sure of SC laws, but in GA 35% is all that's allowed and frequently enforced.
I once had 35 all around on my Z28. It took awhile to get used to the side vision at night, I nearly had an accident turning left onto a familiar road.
After a couple of weeks of adjustment, I got used to it, and felt as comfortable as before. Be careful at first.
One of these day I want to tint the Corvette.
The lower the % the darker the tint. The percentage stands for the amount of light that can be transmitted through the tint.
Mine are tinted at 30% (might even be 25) on side windows and about a 6 inch strip across the top of windshield - the rear window and remainder of windshield have virtually no tint. Having the windows tinted helps reduce the heat inside the car - not to mention the need for sunglasses.
I have a 94 white coupe. I had 35% tint applied on the sides and back. I love it. I think it makes the car look better. From inside you can see out great, but from the outside you cannot see in very well. So that is just fine.
The only problem at night is if you are looking for an address that is not very light.
Mine are at 5% on my white 95... my Buick GN was at 1%. 15% might be too much on the sides if you want visibility in the rain. I'd look at around 35% on the sides and darker on the rear... maybe 15% on that.
The higher the tint the more opaque it is. I've looking in the dictonary. Me i like 5% have seen 2% but you might as well paint your windows black at that point. I'm giving away secrets but i tint my passanger windows in half on a diagnal. I want my rear window in that mirror tint, darn cops how do they like getting a light shined in the eyes at 3:00am.
I've had all my cars done by the same guy. So when I brought the Vette in, he took 1 look and said "U don't even have 2 tell me". He gave me the shade that I was thinking of and man that dark tint looks good on my 35th. :D :D :D
I have just had my vette tinted to 5%. VERY dark from outside - takes a little getting used to when driving (sides and back done), but is not too bad. Looks very cool and helps on the hot days.
I have 35% on my Impala SS for couple years now, thinking of changing it to lower %, even though 35% is law in Alabama... IMHO 35% is not dark enough to warrant the time and expense.
I have 20% all round...and it is easy to see out of. Even though SC law says 35%, I have been pulled over twice for speeding...and they didnt say anything about my tint.
I have 7% on my '86. I'm kinda sorry I went that dark - no one can see in to see me driving in my Vette :smash:
I have never really noticed any visibility problems. One thing to keep in mind - the darker the tint the thicker it is - it's easier to apply a thinner tint (especially to the back window) Assuming that your have a coupe, make sure if you decide to have it tinted that you tell them that you want the back window done in one piece - mine was done in 3 pieces (because 7% is thick). It looks alright - you can only notice it from the inside.
I have 15% on the sides, I dont mind it at all. My rear is 5%, and at night it can be tough to see when backing up. I wouldnt have anything more than 15% though. I love it. You will have to do some looking to get 15% on there. Im not sure about the laws. They dont really enforce it where I am from.
