I have a 91 Coupe with a busted PWR antennae, got a deal on a PWR antennae from a LT4. Fits in just right, but has a connector whereas the old one went straight into the harness after the Antennae relay under the deck lid. If I splice it up, I can make the mast go up but not down. THe colors on the harness are Green-Grey-White and on the antennae they are Orange-pink-black. Does anyone know the combo to make this work if it is at all possible?
This is what I found after testing with the DMM. On Bose Gold systems, its different than all the others. There is a relay that changes the polarity according to the position of the antennae, and whether the radio is on CD or Radio. If it is on CD the antennae comes down, if it is on radio it comes up, and always comes down on power off. I just bypassed the relay, and found the combination that works with the non-Bose Gold antennae, and wired it as such. Now it goes up when the radio is on, and down when the radio is off- regardless of the CD. Next time I will by the right antennae, even though I think this will prolong the life of the antennae with less up and down activity.

Yep, they did the same stupid thing on the first gen RX-7s. Most all power antennae have the relay in the antenna assembly. These guys decided to put a relay in the car or in the head unit which gives you totally different signals for the power antenna assembly. Then you have to modify if you don't spend the $200 (excessive since the aftermarket ones last twice as long for $39.95) to replace the original. :nonod:
I was looking at this very thing last night, there is some kind of relay assembly on my '86 (at the back under the hatch cowl) which is green-grey-white on one plug and orange-pink-black on the other (afiar), perhaps you can get this part from your dealer. Let me know if you want me to take a photo of it to show you where the connections go.
