I also only use the OD at highway speeds. The corvette catalogs have shifter kits from B&M and Hurst but I understand they are labor intensive to install but do cut the shift motion about half. Clutchs, I dunno never had to replace one yet. Still it would be a good idea to check the codes to see if you have some sort of computer problem. The 4+3 is a computer controlled transmission.
Where is Central Coaster when you need him? LOL
You can buy a kit to reduce the throw on the shifter. I have done a few intensive searches to find another shifter but you cannot find something of which does not exist. We have the shorter linkages and I'm of the opinion that it shifts and feels better than a stock ZF6. I have yet to drive a ZF with an aftermarket shifter so I don't have anything to compare that too but I really prefer the shorter 4+3 versus the ZF6. I think the worst part of installing the kit is the alignment and I didn't think it was all that horrible. As far as the OD we just have a simple toggle on/off switch. No more BS with the tranny trying to think for itself. I'm quite capable of doing that for the car.
As far as the clutch goes, ours damn near drives itself with all the torque of the motor. There are a few clutches available for the 4+3. I think Centerforce,Hays, and Sachs(OE replacement) are still available.
