Glenn, Mackey had put a B&M shift kit in his 96, I remember him saying he didn't like it, so he took it back out. Running the stock 4L60E in teh 11's he is
If you aren't going to drag race, definitely hold out for a 6 speed.
I have the B&M kit in an upgraded 85. It will do what you want,ie shift itself or you can shift it. I am not overly fond of it. 1-2 shift is quick to the point of being harsh. 2-3 is firm and 3-4 is crisp. In traffic the 1-2 shift gets to be a pain in the rear end. It is set up with the street option. Can't guess how sharp the full track option would be. Many members are using the kit by Trans-Go and have nothing but good things to say about it. This might be a better option.
