Anyone do the replacement? If so did you like the results? Was it difficult to do? And should it be done?

Thanks,

Hugh

Do a search for bread loaf.........should get PLENTY of results.
I will do it to mine as soon as I wrap up a few other priorities.

and on edit:
make that search an advanced search and do it only in the c4 general section.......narrows the results to more of what you are asking.

The breadbox? I really didn't like it and did fix it. The job took me a few hours. I had to reach in the fuse box opening with a hack saw blade to saw though the attachments for the box. That was the hardest part. Here is a pic:

I'm keeping mine stock original. I'm not really a fan of the breadbox, but I have yet to see a truly appropriate alternative.

A little neatsfoot oil approx. $2.50 and a can of black esquire shoe polish $1.50 will get that scuffed up steering wheel looking like new again.

If you are young enough (or of the mindset to appreciate such a thing) how about installing something like a 7" lcd screen in that area (don't know if it would fit though) and adding a dvd player in the hatch area.
Would "dress up" an otherwise "blank" area of the dash. If you happen to go on a road trip and the wife, kid, buddy, etc...... got bored, could pop in a movie to watch while you are enjoying the drive .

Just tossing about an option for it.

I kind of like the open look of them myself.

Although.....if/when I get the vette I really want, this may be just the thing I'm looking for in that area.

Wouldn't you get the shoe polish all over your hands while driving? Or is there a trick to "sealing" or "curing" it?

Thanks.

I've had the black polish on it a few times already. No it doesn't get on your hands, it drys fine. You can add anything you want to the plate for dress up. I have seen a few pictures where an emblem was added or Corvette lettering. There used to be a plate with a glove box sold but I don't know if it still is. I like mine how it is.

I love the LCD display idea. I will have to seriously look into this solution. Most LCDs are 12volts so it would be an easy wire.
