Default Iac Question

If I get a new IAC do I need to check it for the right clearence or can I just install it. I hope to get one from GM if not order one from one of the Corvette catalogs.

Thanks in advance.

Go over to Tech/Performance and do an Advanced search on IAC, I believe you can push the plunger in the first time, so that it only sticks out maybe one inch, but do a search to be sure.

Prior to installation, identify IAC valve as being either Type 1 or Type 2,If PLUNGER LENGTH

is greater than 1-1/8 inch, reduce as follows:
On Type 1, exert a firm pressure on conical valve to retract it.
On Type 2, while turning valve in clockwise rotation, compress retaining spring from conical valve. Return spring to original position with straight part of spring end aligned with flat surface of valve.

Install IAC valve in throttle body using new gasket. Torque IAC valve to 13 ft. lbs.
Connect IAC valve electrical connector.
Start engine and allow to reach operating temperature.
The ECM will reset the valve when the engine is started, then the ignition is switched off.

Not when it's new, only after it has been used.
