the steering wheel shakes and vibrates alittle bit when over 70 and it does it really bad when over 100. do i have a problem or do they all do this. i just had an alignment and balanced the wheels. what could be up?
Have the tires rechecked for balance AND ROUNDNESS. You can balance an egg...you just can't roll one. Also you could have a rookie at the tire shop that put the weights on the wrong place and didn't re-spin them to check the balance one last time. Alignment might cause some of that, but you didn't say if it had any directional or handling problems,so I'd say probably a tire.
I had a simmilar problem with my 90 vert. had new tires. had them reballanced about 3 times. Then I read about road force balancing. Had it done. cost about $130 but smoothed it right out. Pretty cool system. I will tell you if have a wheel problem or a tire problem. Call around and make sure you find someone that knows what they are doing. I got mine done at a shop that specilized in corvettes.
good luck
