Can anyone with this set-up post some pics. I can't believe I'm seriously considering putting these on my car. I've always hated side pipes. But I do like the way they look on the C4.
I really like the way they look too. I was considering them (even with the hefty price tag PLUS painting) until I heard that they have resonance too. They sure do look pretty though.
IMHO they are way out of place on the C4, at least from the setups I've seen. Anyway, they sell certain side pipe setups in Ecklers if you like that sort of thing. To me they belong on the C3's and earlier, not the C4. But hey, everybody is different, do what you think you will like, it's your car :)
They DO sell the add on ones that arent functional,BUT can one make them functional?
Its far cheaper that way.I dont see why an exhaust shop couldnt make you some pipes to come off the cat, then exit out the sides through the side effect kit.
Maybe put some aluminum shielding inside the fiberglass rocker panel Kit to make it work?
I liked the functional ones too but wayyyy to expensive for the whole kit.
Oh,Also keep in mind that the fuel lines run right next to the rocker panel under the passenger side of the car.Dont want any exhaust heat running right under them.
Power Effects makes a cool side mounted exhaust system for 1984-1996

Bring your wallet though! lol.. E-mail me if you need anymore info. Takinun@aol.com Darryl.
Well,I guess I made a mistake...seems the side effects kit only, for the fake side pipes, comes in ABS plastics and not fiberglass the real kit comes with.
I dont think ABS will hold up to exhaust heat very long if one went to mod this out to make it work.
And yes ,according to the pics, youre going to have some real problems jacking the car up.Oh well.
a friend had an 87 white vette with side pipes but I liked them much better than the ones I see normally. They were flatter instead of indenting and looked pretty good.
I saw the Side Effects display at the Chevy Vette fest last weekend. The system uses a flat tube coming off of the converter that splits and goes both ways all the way up to the front of the system. Then goes in to a little round chamber. The tube coming out of the chamber is round till it exits in front of the rear tire. I liked the system a whole lot. I like the way they look. I didnt like the $1300 price for the quieter system and then you still need paint.
I have Side Effects side exhaust on my 93 Ruby convertible. I love the set up.
It looks great, the system is well made and sounds awesome. The nice thing about the system is that it is bolt on, no modifications. If you decide to sell your C4 you can just re-install the stock exhaust and rocker panels and you are back to original.
I ordered mine directly from the manufacturer they were less expensive than the corvette catalog dealers like Ecklers.
Still haven't figured out how to post a picture on the forum, mabey I'll give it a shot this weekend.

From a purely functional stand point the set up that runs the exhaust all the way back to the front of the side pipes looks like crap. Way too much extra piping involved. If you wanted to do side pipes right get a set that doesn't run all the way back. Get them to hook up right off the headers. Of course they'll be loud, but all the Cobra guys will dig you because, hey, who can NOT like real side pipes. They're cool if they're real! :)
