Safety key Corvette
Was talking to a past Corvette owner who had a C3 and was showing interest in a C4. He said he believed that one of the C4s built in the 1990s has a safety key which controlled the horsepower of the car. I told him I never heard of such a thing but Ive learned to never say never. Did such a option exist on any C4?

ZR1 - King of the Hill Super Corvette . Had between 375 and 405 HP STOCK with hand built Lotus designed Mercury Marine assembled engine. Has a dash switch that cuts off about 200 horsepower that take a special key that you take with you in case you must let some one else drive your car.

The key is generally refered to as the valet key. The LT5 engine has two sets of fuel injectors per cylinder and that key enables the 2nd set of injectors which allows full horsepower.
I don't know of any ZR-1 owners who would allow others to drive their car but without the power key, HP is limited to a "safe" 200 HP.
