New C4 owner here
Trust me...I kinda stumbled into this place. Most don't see the market since a pilot knows another pilot and they get snagged up fast. Actually there are 2 for sale by owner right now. Both places also have hangers on the property. Both guys lost their medicals due to age and can no longer fly.
As it is, I have a small home with a 2 car garage - 1/2 of one bay is dedicated to the wheelchair ramp for my wife (disabled with Multiple Sclerosis).
As for my Vette, somebody said it looked almost new. That's a picture taken from 20 feet away. Believe me, the former owner didn't take good care of it and it has a lot of work to be done before it's back to it's former glory. I'm taking the winter to do a lot of that work then hopefully have it on the road by spring. Just this morning I rebuilt the entire brake system - I took my time and it took about 6 hours (rebuilt the calipers, new brake pads, new master cylinder, flushed the brake fluid, repaired the parking brake, etc).
Just like with the airplane, the safety things take top priority, then trickle down to the other things that need attention. I must admit taht I splurged and bought an Alpine head unit to replace the BoseDelco system. The 6X9 speakers I bought are going to be a pain - the mounting holes won't fit the GM's speakers 6X9 mounting mounting points. Ah, time for good old American innovation...

This one is pretty clean but not perfect. It needs a little TLC. Antenna not going up and down all the way, I hate the Bose, has something going on in the front end, and other little stuff. I plan on tearing into it this weekend. let me know what you come up with on putting those 6x9's in. I'm curious since I know the ones I will want to put in most likely will not be a drop in either.
I'm still a student pilot...and I have to say...there is nothing like it. I just started and have about 15 hours. It's a blast! (except the landings here) That's a bit nerve racking.
We get constant crosswinds and with the houses things get really goofy just before touchdown. But as the instructor keeps telling me...if you can land here...you can land anywhere...
Me and 2 others on the strip here bought a Cessna 150. One is teaching his son on it since he owns a tail dragger...and the other guy is a student like me. With the 3 of us..it's pretty cheap to own. Plus there is no storage cost and we have fuel at cost right here on the strip. (The Harley, the 69 and the Camaro love the 103 AV fuel)
Good luck on bringing that 95 back up to your liking.
As for the speakers, I found a site that sells adapters that fit the GM 6X9 holes and allows you to place 6.5 in their place. I may go that route and return the speakers I have and excahnge them for a pair of 6.5's. Anyway you look at it, a set of decent aftermarket speakers and a decent head unit will outperform the BoseDelco system.

Tighten that baby up and get ready to have more fun than a

Enjoy the ride.................

I don't see many around here period, never mind nice ones! I need to get me another one of those! They go for some big bucks these days though!
More people have gotten their pilot's licence training in the C-150 than any other airplane. Gentle stall characteristics, easy to takeoff and land, the most obvious fault is C-150's don't like crosswinds, but that's a characteristic of the high-wing plane. That's why I fly a low-wing - we get some nasty crosswinds on the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Take your time and don't panic, you'll soon have your licence and will be looking at a 172 or 182. Yet another toy to decimate the family budget.
I hear ya there. My neighbour has a Cardnal. I do like it. It's pretty nice for a little longer trip. But we'll see. There are so many out there. Kinda like cars. Not sure what i like yet. I'm too green to know what I like.
Sigh. I've already shelled out this month's budget. The KUMHO (what a name) tires are very worn and feel like they're oval and not round, I want to replace the shocks when I replace the tires and have a front end machine check the alignment. I'm looking at a set of Cooper tires, but it may be next year before I can get them.
I hear ya there. I went in to get that tire repaired and it was like 1800 bucks for the tires that are on that car!
I was like holy crap...guess I'm not doing as many burnouts as I would like to.

You got that right!
