Default Master Electrical Cut off switch

Back in the 60's we used a master electrical at the battery to turn off power, sometimes for security and sometimes for a minor electrical leak. I could use one now for what I think is a minor electrical leak and to use this winter instead of disconnecting the battery. Ideas??

Can you say band-aid on a gun shot wound? If you have an electric draw, I suggest finding what is causing it and fixing it. Put an ammeter between the the neg cable from the battery and the batterys negative terminal. It should be less than 50 milliamps. If it's not, than start pulling fuses to see what circuit is the problem.

For over winter buy yourself a battery tender. http://www.batterytender.com/

Fix it, but until you do and you want your vette to be able to be driven dependably, this is better than a battery tender IMHO. www.prioritystart.com. The following is a commercial from their web site. I have it on a Cadillac Allante which is notorious for battery drain issues.

The Priority Start! operates only when accidental deep discharge of vehicle [auto] or marine batteries is taking place.

Priority Start! monitors battery voltage and automatically disconnects any undesired drain on your battery as the voltage reduces, when the engine is not running. It essentially is a battery disconnect switch. The disconnect threshold is factory set at 11.7 Volts.

Just step on the brake pedal, operate the headlight switch, or any other electrical accessory and it automatically reconnects. It is very simple to remember! It is a fully automatic engine starting protection for your car or boat! When it comes to your battery - starting is the priority!

Priority Start! maximizes battery life preventing electrical damage. Saves money, time, and exposure to dangerous situations. Can also be utilized on vehicle's with an electrical short.

The same unit can be used on either Top Post or Side Terminal Batteries!
