Default interior light switch removal

On my 84 I need to replace the switches that trigger the interior lights when you openthe doors and I cannot figure out how to get them out. One is down in nowhere land after I tried to do it. any info would be great! Thanks, Scott

I replaced both sides in my 93 for about $15 each. Their design still sucks.

I had to remove the door panels to get inside and remove the nuts from the back of the screws that hold the switches in place.

If yours are like mine, the little tab will still break and the interior lights will still flicker after about a month with the new ones. My solution was to gently pry the head of the switch out a bit and wrap a small piece of wire around it and no more flicker. I eventually was going to use a small drop or two of black epoxy on the little stalk to stop it from being pushed back in to the spring loaded part. The spring loaded part of the switch is what actually makes the on/off contacts.
