I have found and purchased a set of black 94-96 seats that look in good condition on EBAY,, and will will update agaionce they arrive and I get them fitted, and see how I fit.
Derrick

pics below of my seats and new ride.

IMO the seats are far more comfortable. Has anyone gotten rid of the power tracks and gone with generic sliders? I think that I could gain at least an inch of headroom back.
Also, on the 94 and up, where are the controls for the power lumbar located, was it added into the center console?
thanks for all the help

Congrats they make a world of difference huh? Yes the controls were moved to the center console

. Great for those long road trips
so here is a better picture of my coupe
]Next, decided to try and lower the seats, so I dont get a concussion ( or more likely damage the interior , hard head...) on every bump. Thought about bolting the seats directly to the floor, but:
Here is what I did.
Pulled the power seat track out, found a manual set of tracks for an early c4 on ebay (about $30 with shipping)

then
1. flattented the rear floor mount bracket
2. shortened /cut the rear seat mounting nut bracket and welded it almost flush against the slide
3. Cut the front floor mount bracket, dropped it 1.75 inches and rewelded it in place.

the only permanent change I had to make to my c4 was to shorten the rear mounting bolts in the floor to clear the lowered slider. I am also going to have to find a new place for the lug wrench. Had more pics, but the are kinda dark ( used my phone)
But, I regained about 1.75 inches of head room (just enough), and kept the funtionality of the seat sliders.
Now if I could figure out how to lengthen the cabin, or shorten my legs just a little.
In terms of height, I sit perfectly now but I don't think I could afford a few more inches. This scares me because if I'm in the car for more than 1-2 hours in a row my *** KILLS me! But if I'm going to hit my head on the top for every bump, that's not going to help me either!
As I noted before, I am also 6'6" and the fit is tight no matter what you do, but with the current set up I am much more comfortable.

I also have a '90, and I just got a set of cushions off of Ebay, but I need the seat frames, as the '90's will not work. Does this mod have any affect on the seat functions? Did you change the controls on the console to the '94 style? Anything else I should be aware of? I will also need to use the lower seat tracks, as I am 6'4". They are from a '84, correct?
Thanks for your help.
Randy
the mod should have no effect directly on the seat function, you do loose the power functions when you loose the taller, power seat base.
The rest of the seat functions should work the same, as they are housed in the seat base itself. I have not changed over to the 94 style console controls yet, but plan to, in order to regain the power lumbar function of my 94 seats. Not sure if this helps, in near the end of a 24 hour shift, I tend to ramble.
