I like the Coupe in the C4. More structural integrity=better handling. More accessible storage as well which is better for traveling. I like the optional glass roof as well. The rear windows in the Verts wear out as do the tops. I like them all but prefer the coupe.

I'm not to worried about falling rocks, but evening driving in this part of the country could yield a white tail deer landing on your lap, in which case the inevitable struggle between you and the deer as to which gets out of the car first. my bet...the deer wins

I think the big question is where and what the Vette is going to be used for. A daily driver should probably be a coupe.

But for a fun car, only taken out when the sun is shining, should be nothing else but a "Vert"

I've only had mine for 5 months and wouldn't trade it for any coupe. (Well maybe a Z06) We have short "summer" season in Minnesota and that's all the more reason to let it all hang out when you can.

If I want the wind in what's left of my hair, I can have the targa off in less than 5 minutes and stored neatly and securely in the back.

I might be just a little biased since I own a vert. But living in Florida where you can drop the top almost year round it's hard not to go with a ragtop.

Besides I think the Vette has always been meant to be a roadster.

You mean they make coupes?

Unless you're competing fairly seriously, the fun factor of the 'vert gets my vote.

Yeah, I don't know about that. Just thinking about what might happen in the event of a rollover is enough to keep me with the coupe. Not that the top would actually save me anyways but it's the thought that counts!

If the roll-over concern is that great, fabricate a rollbar .... who knows there may be a market for such an item ....

Seriously though, most Vert owners (including me) do not make that a high consideration in driving a Vert ... it's simply part of the risk one takes .... you could be as safe and snug in your coupe and after you park it the infamous "bus" runs you over when you cross the street ....

If the VERT is ANYTHING like the coupe without the targa then I'll keep my coupes.
I removed the targa panel from my coupe once. I doubt I'll ever do it again. The cowl shake was pretty bad, but the wind turbulence was nothing short of awful. I hated driving that car with the panel out. My 'vert suffers none of these maladies. It has minimal cowl shake (doesn't bother me), and none of the wind turbulence that the coupe presents.

If you like the open-air experience, buy a 'vert. If you plan to drive only with the roof in place, go with a coupe.

Live well,

SJW

One trip down the Overseas Highway (US 1) from the Mainland of Florida through the Florida Keys all the way down to Key West in a Vert with the top down will sell anyone on a Convertible. There is nothing like the feeling of crossing 7 Mile Bridge and seeing the beatuful Blue-green water in a Panaramic View in the open air with the top down. Ask anybody who has made the trip and I am sure they will agree!

Gotta agree with Tex here.

I've driven both of my C4s to Key West. While I enjoyed each trip, the 'vert was definitely the car of choice for that trip.

I'd have to say that the highlight of that trip was making the run back to Key West after dining with friends one night on Marathon. Top down, no traffic, no "light pollution" (read: "a gazillion stars"), a full moon on the rise, mid-70's air temps, with a beautiful woman by my side -- ya know, I don't know how life could get much better than that.

Live well,

SJW

SJW, I had to laugh when I saw the pic by the Mile Marker 0 sign. I took the same one.

Can you run a vert at the strip without a cage? I only ask because they make me put my windows up on my coupe.
