I know this is a dumb question, but I have a 93 and have stock wheels 8.5 fr-9.5 rear can I put 9.5 all the awy around and do the tires have to be directional
like the GSC I have in now. Thanks Jim
Yes, you can put 9.5x17 all the way around. In fact that is how the 92' comes. Also the Z07 option on the 93' comes with 9.5 all around with 275/40/17 tires.
No you do not have to have directional like the GSC. But I believe most high preformace tires with "Z" rating are dirctional. Go to tirerack.com and they will
list all the tires for your year vette.
If you're going to change rims...9.5s will definitely fit on the front allowing you to go with 285/40s all around so you can rotate. You'll notice a definite difference in the handling! Also consider putting 11s on the back for 315/35s. You won't be able to rotate fromt to back...but i've never needed to.
Those changes without a doubt the biggest SOP difference in the handling of the 94.
So far as the tires go...many ARE directional...but many are not. My preference is Michelin, and they're not.
I couldn't find any GSC's when I replaced mine a week ago. I heard they were discontinued. I went with the F1's and I really like them. But they too are directional.
11" rims sticking out of the fender isn't that bad of a look... BUT... you can reduce that by putting a little negative camber into the rear wheels... say a 1/2 degree. Works for me :D
