I have a problem with my 1989 corvette. If I start the car and turn it off right after I start it. It won't start till I let it sit for a while. I was told @ a local shop that this was due to the Electron spark Control. The module in the distributor has been replace and he's done all the other tests. Is this possible?
Thanks in Advance,
Lori

No. The electronic spark control (ESC) is a completely different part of the vehicle electronics from the electronic spark timing (EST) distributor module. They both interface with the computer (ECM), but that is all they have for common. The ESC is merely a knock/noise monitoring circuit that informs the computer when knock is occuring. The computer then decides if it wants to listen to the advice of the ESC. Regardless, the ESC is disabled by software during cranking and idle conditions.
