I went out for a little drive today, and seemed like everyone had something to prove against my car ! For instance, driving along, minding my own business, and along came an kid in what looked like a fairly new Porsche 911, it was like he had something to prove against my "89". Does anybody else have this problem ?

Every time I drive a sportscar. When I drive a truck it's the other trucks that start acting up. Testosterone I guess.

People with these overpriced imports have to try this to make them think they didn't get ripped off by their dealers. Guess what.....They are still driving junk. Its always fun to smoke one once in a while, but you should already know they really are impressed with your Vette or they wouldn't give your car a second look. Keep them guessing.

Yeah I get that all the time. I had some younger guido kid try to out drive me in his new 3series. You know... The new one that runs 13's... ANYWAY! he had some girl in the car. I made my moves left him in the dust. I had nothing more to prove because I had made it very clear that I had a superior car and superior driving skills. So when I slowed back down to legal limit. He did a cute little drive bye. I just smiled and winked at his beautiful girlfriend! Because she knew what was up! HAHAHAHA! Sorry. Ego rub!

For the most part. I would have to agree! A wise man once told me. "Fast cars drive slow."

I do not seem to have this problem. Might be a new story next spring after the mods but a ground thumping cam might scare them away.

I notice other drivers are discourteous to me when I drive my C4. This really bothers me because I am as courteous as one can be while driving. I realize most other drivers think that us Corvette owners must all be a$$holes and this is why they treat us like $hit I'm sure. As much as I'd like to cut them off or force them behind me on an on-ramp, I don't. I believe in karma, and those buttheads that cut me off will get theirs, someday.

i'm pretty sure a good deal of corvette drivers earned that reputation with their collective, self-righteous attitude.

I've never had someone treat me badly just because I drive a Corvette. Drivers here in suburban D.C./Maryland treat everyone like crap no matter what they drive.

I've never had any trouble. Maybe the Ruby blends in too much.

Does a Porsche have to justify its existance to a Corvette? Damn right, so does every other sports car out there. IMO, it does not matter what year the Corvette is. the other car wants to prove or die trying that it has something to compare too. So they spend 30k or 100+k on there rides . they are not Corvettes
when I drive my 85, I am driving the best car on the road, the only time I take a second look at another car, is when I see another Vette and I give them the wave.

I also have a 67 VW KarmannGhia in my stable, I do get alot of waves driving it, but I also get the occasional punk in his high dollar junk that wants to race me. Maybe they dont realize that this prize of mine can go 0-60 in about give or take 3 miles, So when I shrug there race attempts off, I am sure it leaves them guessing. One time a punk in a BMW with his painted up girlfriend kept pestering me for a race while we were at a red light, I said title for title and he got scared and declined.

I might be an a$$hole, but it has nothing to do with the car I drive.

Funny you should mention this, must have been a full moon last night. Took girl friend to mall today, just cruising @ 65 listening to radio and look in mirror and have Honda glued to bumper. Speed up a little and he paced me, slowed down and same thing, just wouldn't get off rear end. We were about 3 miles from exit, the exit has a gradual right and a tight left to merge onto roadway. The ramp is posted for 45mph. I dropped into first turn @ 60 and went into the second around 65, last I saw of Honda was in the middle of second turn cutting the grass with his spoiler.

On average it happens to me every other day. You learn to live with it, and for the most part ignore it.
