Default 1994 corvette key less entry

I just bought my first vet last night. It is a 94 admiral blue. The car seems to have just about every option that was avaliable but does not have a keyfob with the keys. My question is did all 94's come with keyless entry or was this not an option. I looked at a bunch of other cars and they seemed to have it. I checked the option coodes and was not able to find anything. Does any one know the answer?

Hmm good question I beleive your car should have a PKE fob. (Passive Keyless Entry). You can get them on Ebay and the typical parts houses. Madvet Ecklers etc.

PKE became standard on the Corvette with the 93 models.

Well jughead has rendered his opinion. I knew 93 was the first year. I believe it was a standard option.

If this is the case does amy one know where I can pick a PKE fob up. Ecklers has them but they want $180 for one. Does anywhere have them cheaper?

As stated Ebay has them from time to time. You could also post a WTB in the c4 Parts/wanted section.

If you run a "Corvette keyless remote" on EBAY you'll find one on there for the 93-96 coupe right now. The Buy It Now price is $125 but if your patient you can find one used in the $75-85 range. That's how I replaced my vert fob and bought a spare for my 94 coupe I sold.

The 94 owners manual states that the car was shipped with a fob. You now face a dilemma - was your PKE system turned off before you purchased the car or is it still on? The way to check this is to put your key in the ignition, and turn it on. If the Passive Keyless Entry light on the DIC does not come on, then it was turned off before you purchased the car. If the PKE light comes on for a second or two, then the PKE system is still on. You can do this without having a fob.

There are two fobs, one for the coupe and one for the convertible. It is my understanding that the coupe fob will work on the convertible, but the convertible fob will not work on the coupe. But I do not know for sure, so purchase the correct one. That's because there are two buttons for the coupe and one for the convertible. I suggest you search the web or look at e-bay for fobs. I purchased a second fob, new, from e-bay for $100. Both work fine.

You cannot turn the PKE on or off without the fob. The door button on the fob is used to do this. You will have to program the fob to your corvette once you get it. It's very easy to do, just follow the instructions that come with it or look in the owner's manual.

Hope this helps.

Default PKE is a high failure system

My advice: If you know another vette owner (93-96) see if if you can test. Or go to a local vette shop and see. I actually installed an aftermarket remote and wired it into the PKE system since it was not working and I had replaced the PKE component in the dash.

Anyone have instruction on how to program the fob?
1. Move transmitter out of range
2. Turn the ignition on
3. Push "TRIP ODO" on the DIC twice
4. Within 5 seconds press and hold "FUEL INFO" until the "PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY" light comes on.
5. Turn the ignition off, but leave the key in the ignition. The "PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY" light should begin to flash to show the system is in programming mode.
6. Bring transmitter into range. The PKE light will stop flashing and stay on to show that the code is stored.
7. Move the transmitter out of range. The PKE light should start flashing again.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 with each additional transmitter.

The programming mode will shut off if:
You don't program any transmitters for two minutes
You take the key out of the ignition or turn the ignition on
You have programmed 3 transmitters.

The above is from the 1994 Owners Manual pages 40 -41. Suggest you get an Owners Manual. Also, since you have purchased the fob, instructions should be included. One more thing, don't drop the fob on hard surfaces as this has potential to damage the unit.

Hope this helps.

Try to find the part number of the Fob from one of those robbers on ebay. Go to gmpartsdirect and type in the part number. They have brand new ones for half the ebay price. That is were the robbers get most of them. Programming instructions are in the Owners' Manual. The GM part number availble from GM now is 88960923 and they are $96 and change plus shipping. .

I actually like the PKE. Once I got the hang of it, how one turns it on and off, it is really great. Since I park in a secure parking lot at night, much before the parking lot lights come on at 4 am, it is great just to walk away from the car, hear the click and the horn beep. Same when I approach it at night, just walk up to it, the lock operates and the interior lights go on. My C5 requires me to push the button on the fob.
